The S/SSankt Erik, Sweden´s firsthighseas icebreaker,was built at theFinnbodaShipyardand launchedinMarch of 1915. The Sankt Erik has two three-cylinder steam engines.The aft one, which isof 2800 hp, is Sweden´s largest sextant marine steam engine.The fore engine has 1200hp. Facts:Length 58,1 m,Width 17 m,Draught6,5m, She usedto have a crew of 30. The ship is registrated and occasionaly in serviceas a cruiser.Callsign:SHRA. The museum icebreakerS/S SANKT ERIKis located at a pier adjacent to the Vasa Museum,Stockholm. Admission:FREE. Managed by SMM (Statens Maritima Museer), The Swedish National Maritime Museums. ****************************** The MUSEUM SHIPS WEEKEND event,took place June 6-7 2009and this year as always, since 2003, with operators from SK0QO activating the callsign8S0HRA. You have to understand the reason why we too often did not copy your signals, namely due to a heavy noise carpet from onboard electrical installations, alarm systemsand such,as well as from the nearby Vasa Museum. Propagation did not really cheer us up mmore than anyone else but anyway, we are happy to have made all-in-all 760 QSOs. 80M CW: 7*80M SSB: 151*40M CW: 5*40M SSB: 5*30M: 477*20M CW: 43* 20M SSB: 41* 17M CW:31.
