Born 1946 in Syracuse, NY. Lived in six different towns while growing up. Consider Lewiston, NY my hometown. Briefly licensed as a Novice as high school senior, but failed to upgrade to General when I returned home from college at Christmas and found that my parents had sold my rigs and dipole!

Was off the air for 25 years until my Vietnam MARS buddy Dennis (N6KI) put me in touch with Don (KO2K) in New Jersey. Got back on the air as KB2IPY in Sep 89 and quickly upgraded and changed callsigns (N2KCH in Nov 89; KE2SW in Apr 90; to AA2AV in Jul 90).

Served as volunteer MARS op at AB8AQ at Phu Bai, RVN while with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. Served as National Public Relations Officers of Army MARS during Operation Desert Storm/Shield (also as the MARS columnist in Worldradio). Ran 1,000+ phone patches from W2USA at Fort Monmouth, NJ.

Ham radio interests: CW operating (the faster the better!!); QRP operating (solar-powered Ten-Tec Argo Model 535); DXing (especially Italian stations - attempting to become the first American op to work & confirm all 105 Italian provinces); and County Hunting (USA-CA #770, Mixed, 1992). I am only need 5 more counties to become the first ham in history to work all 3,076 US counties all QRP-CW!

In addition to my Extra Class callsign AA2AV, I am also 3W3AV in Vietnam and am trustee of the American-Italian Radio Club (callsign N0AI). I am an FCC Volunteer Examiner via the ARRL and served three terms as President of the Electronic Technology Society of New Jersey (ETSNJ, the famous 146.94 Green Brook Repeater).

Non-Radio Life: Consumer Psychologist (Ph.D., Rutgers, 1973) and tenured Full Professor of Marketing, School of Business, Montclair State University. Former VP/Group Head of Response Analysis Corp., Princeton, and Copy Research Director, Young & Rubicam Advertising, New York City. Happily married to wife Linda since 1968. Our daughter Leigh and grandson Christopher live with us in Metuchen, NJ. Plan to retire in Spring 2005 and move back to Geneseo, NY where Linda and I first met. SUNY Geneseo is planning to make me Distinguished Alumni Professor Emeritus of Business History. We have bought land (3 acres) and are already sketching out our dream retirement home and ham shack. Stay tuned for a Serious Aluminum Farm from Geneseo!
