July 26, 2012 heading to Costa Rica as the Senior Team Leader for the Youth DX Adventure. Youth will be making many QSO's during the time spent down there. For the website see www.youthdx.org. Last trip I was not able to get on the radio due to the youth usage. Maybe this time. Will be calling as TI5/AB8YK and QSLs to home call. Several ham youth will be taken to TI5N to operate as a DX special event station. To raise funds we are raffling off an Alinco all band radio and selling t-shirts to fund the trip. Tickets for the radio are $5 each or 5 for $20. If you just want to donate to help with the cost of the trip follow this link http://www.youthdx.org/donations.html or www.youthdx.org. Thanks in advance for all help October 15-17, 2011Boy Scout JOTA station for BSA Toop 390 at Sycamore State Park Dayton, OHIO. Operating 3 HF stations, 20/40/17 and 2M IRLP. Went on church mission trip to Haiti on July 25-Aug 4, 2011. Wished there was time for ham activity as I did not see ANY antennas except commercial ones. People were happybut daily efforts are just providing for families and trying to recover from the earthquake. They were happy to see Americans helping them recover! Visited actual epicenter and there was not much left but they are rebuilding. Handling webmaster duties for the 2011 YDXA site and there is a great group going this year. Hopefully I will contact them from my home QTH and get QSO's with them all. We'll see. Aug 2010 Returned from a wonderful trip to Costa Rica with they Youth DX Adventure The youth had a great time and learned a lot. Thanks to Keko for holding a daily class to educate them on DXing. (Won't admit that I learned a couple new tricks) I made zero contacts as the youth were so involved that I went into full mentor and coach mode which precluded me operating. So I will not receive any QSL cards as I did not operate. DXpedition to Costa Rica Oct 2008 as TI5N/AB8YK.
