I am sorry but I can no longer afford the postage for QSL's. If you want a QSL from me please include a self addressed and stamped envelope with your QSL. Out of the USA include a self addressed envelope with correct USA stamps for a return to your own country. All QSL's that comply with this request will be responded too. I was born in 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. I lived in Michigan till age 54 when I moved to New Mexico. I got my first ticket in 1976 as a Novice and was issued the call WD8OTN. In 1977 I upgraded to Extra and received my current call sign. I have one vintage AM only Station which is composed of a Johnson Ranger 1 with two receivers that operate together with the transmitter. A Hammarlund HQ-140X and a Hammarlund HQ-170A-VHF. There are two scopes wired into the IF of the receivers so I can see the incoming signals.
I also have one vintage SSB station which is a Yaesue FT-101E which has audio modifications as well as modified to work on 17 and 12 Mtr's. I have two linear amps one of which is a Heathkit SB-220 and the other a Dentron model 160-10L with four 572B's. Outboard tuning if needed is an MFJ Versa tunerV. I use a Heathkit SB-610 to monitor my own signal. My tranceiver is a ICOM 756 Pro3. My audio is controlled by a W2IHY Equalizer noise gate and the microphone is an Icom SM-8. For 2mtrs the radio is a Kenwood TR-751A along with a Mirage Brick Amplifier at 160 watts to a 5/8 wave vertical in the attic. The antennas for HF is a k4kio Hexigonal Beam with 6 bands and a Carolina Windom CW-80 mounted on 33 ft. fiberglass mast.
This is my shack from when I lived in Michigan. It was, as you can see, far more extensive than is currently is the case. I was very much into the AM mode back then and still love the old boat anchors to this day. My old shack was a double decker counter tops around three sides of one room.
The Globe King 500C was located in a different room and was my last restoration project before selling all of the old boat anchors before moving to New Mexico. I hope you enjoyed seeing pictures of the old all tube only boat anchors from times past.
Thanks for Looking and 73's AE8O Tom
