My BEST ever contact, being on a net with ZD7VC Bruce, ZD8I Ian, ZD9BV Andy on 13th aug 2006 on 14.205mhz 16.13utc .Last time the ZD's met together was 10yrs previous.We had uniterrupted chatter for about 45 minutes, at the end there was only one lucky G station that bagged all for of us, and he was very happy, of course Gambia C5 was formerly ZD3from the 1930's

Originally from Kingston Jamaica(6Y),but lived in England .Education was done in Slough.In 1971 joined the Army and completed 10 years(Royal Engineers).First taste of radio whilst posted for 6 years in Germany was CB 0.5W of AM ,Hohne,Hameln and Munsterlager then did Combat Signalers course.Also travelled to Cyprus(1973/4)Berengaria nr Limmasol(UN),Norway and Canada Medicine Hat.Usual tours of N.Ireland Antrim,Castle Dillon. Demobbed in 1981 moved to Reading Berks.Thanks to local friends in Reading who tutored us through the RAE.(B)Licensed 1982 (G6YRT).(A) license in 1985, Moved to the city of Southampton in 1987 was very active upto 1999,then ceased radio to play computers/internet. 2005 Decided to give up the "Rat race" Officially retired from the railway (S.W.T.)Aged 51 years old,and moved here to the Gambia in September 2005.Now a full time resident in the Gambia(the Only resident licensed op here). UK call was G0DXC applied and granted C5DXC.

DSP noise reduction unit, Manson SPA-8230 23amp/MAAS 60amp switchmode PSU's, Dell Latitude/D410 Laptop running the fabulous HamRadioDeluxe logging/rig control software,Yaesu VX-1 dual-band handy.AND FOR FUTURE 6M WORKING A FT-920 (6M loop at present monitoring)

Darren aka C52T was here for the CQWW ssb contest,(SEE his report HERE http://www.gb7edx.com/C52T/index.html) and so because of his generosity and our labour efforts, the station antennas now consist of a 5ele tri-band yagi(Create 318B) on top of a locally made 3m box tower section (40ft agl),HAM IV ROTATOR(tnx to PETER G2YT(C56YT)) a redone Hygain th3jrs modified to a 3ele mono bander for 17m mounted on a lighting tripod (35ft agl)and a windom/OCFD antenna in an inverted V apex is 60ft agl, 88'+44'legs, 40'of ribbon cable to a 2kw balun, then coax feed , this is mounted on a fishing pole on top of a 6m alipole, plus HUSTLER BTV6 trapped 6 band vertical.

BACKUP EQUIP.consists of,MC80 desk mic, .Kenwood TK-80 commercial ssb Radiotelephone(for portable use??) ,MFJ-949e Atu,MFJ-259b analyser, Lowes HF-150 receiver,Sony ICF-SW7600gr,ICF-7600D,Hitachi KH-WS1 worldspace receiver,Zetagi B300P amplifier,Zetagi 30a psu,watson 30a psu,Grelco 30-40amp psu, , for portable ops.40m portable doublett,6Band vertical (Hustler BTV6).

4xLaptops 2xdesktop wireless network, with wireless internet connection 256kb connection.SKYPE Skumsukker My actual location QTH is KERR SEREIGN 2km from the sea. Google Earth co-ords are 13.43132N 16.7219W. Nearest town is Serrekunda. We can get very high noise levels here and the electricity is erratic and unstable,so do not be surprised if I suddenly disappear, a standby 10kva generator is available as well as a 850w/2.4kv field gennys and good ole battery power,so a couple of mins and we're back on air.

UPDATE: G2YT(Peter)was here over Christmas and new year for 3 weeks with wife,no radio but lots of Fishing back again soon(April) M3UNN("Jay" Sarunas was here 22nd Jan-29th Jan using C56NN , originally from Lithuania, had a great week oping from a beachside location with a trapped vertical, and occasionally from my qth, He NOW belives me that there is a Lithu restaurant here. Next is ON7YK.(C56YK)(Andre)from 8th Feb - 1st March 2007Next to visit(again) is Darren G0TSM(C52T) from 20thMarch for one week only at AFRICAN VILLAGE HOTEL.Been and gone now a very happy man did well in WPX contest, says a fantastic location,He'll be back.(See report here http://www.gb7edx.com/c52t/march2007.html ) And he has been back ,was here mid june did 6m working.
