Lookups:   7193 Ham Member

I am 90 years oldthe oldest ham in Cuba and been on hamradio since the second world war, originally I started as an army radiotelegraph operator and there I met my best friend today and another old timer hamradio op,Cirilo Padron ex CO2DR today KA4SGL(he is 87 now) who lives in Florida and he initiated me on this great hobby. He always was my mentor and the one who built all my very first AM transmitters,

My main mode of operating on the bands is been always CW which I love,my old ears still can receive over 70 words a minute and  in spite of my old shaky hand I can TX with my paddle up to  50 wpm.The radios that you see at the top picture are an old Eico 720 SSB/CW transceiver and an old Hallicrafter receiver.I also have as a backup TX a double sideband small rig that my friend KA4SGL built for me more than 30 years ago when he lived in Habana and that proudly I use today sometimes to show him and all hams in the world that still work perfectly well.I call it the "Pacheko" in honor to him because he was called by all hams here with that name.

MY favorite band is 40M where I met with my friends on CW around 7030 Khz but you can find me also on SSB on the upper part of the band looking for my old friends who live today in the sates.

Now before you close down this page,I want you to enjoy all the pictures of my oldy dirty 30 years+ old doble sideband TX that I was mentioning before wich I still use today performing 100% in spite of its age.

to all and thanks for stoping to read my bio.

God blessings.

Note:

AD4C IS NOT MY QSL MANAGER,JUST MY QRZ ADM,SO PLEASE DON'T SEND HIM YOUR QSL,JUST DO IT DIRECTLY TO ME USING MY OWN ADDRESS.

On the next pictures if you want to see their original size, just click on each one.

This a corner view of that DSB Tx showing the power transformer and the VFO buffer tube with its tuned coil and  the plate meter.

On this one you see the buffer tube(6V6),the balanced modulator tube(6SN7),the driver tube (6AG7) with its tuned coil and also at the right corner the 6146 final tube with its PI tank.

Here you can see the whole DSB Tx showing how old and dirty is but I am afraid If I clean it I will stop working fine as it is now.

The front chassis  with all the controls, mic and keyer conectors, plate tunning cap and meter, etc

This is the external homemade as well VFO using a 6AG7 tube to feed my DSB rig

This is my very old but still good paddle and electronic keyer

And when I use my DSB TX I receive on this antique Hallicrafter S76 still working fine for me.

And this is my whole hamstation, old, dirty and dusty but working 100% to make friends all over the world.73 and thanks for stoping by to read my modest bio.
