The CT3 Madeira Contest Team (CQ9K/CT9M), is proud to announce the Call CQ95F
in comemoration of the 500 Years of Funchal City foundation. Funchal is the
Capital city from Madeira Isl. Arch. The Arch. is composed by 4 Groups of
Islands: Madeira Main Isl.; Porto Santo Isl. (AF014);Desertas Group (AF046);and
Selvagens Group. (AF047). The QSL cards maybe requested to any of the operators
or to ARRM (CS3MAD). Operators: CT3BD, CT3DL, CT3DZ, CT3EE, CT3EN, CT3IA,
CT3KY, CT3KU The city of Funchal, capital of the Island of Madeira, will
celebrate its centennial as city in August 2008. Funchal was the first city to
be designated as such, within the vast dominiumof the Portuguese Discoveries.
This deignation complied with its development as a consequence of the thriving
cultivation of sugar as well as the presence of many foreigners living on the
island, who were involved in commerce. Funchal had therefore been acknowledge
as being an important trading centre in the North Atlantic, end the
headquarters of a large Bishop's Diocese that was spiritually responsabile for
the new territories on shores of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. This call is a
special used to conmemorate this event
