Obtained licence in 1960. Spent 1960 to 1967 at sea as Radio Operator on BP tankers. While at sea operated as G3SPS/MM on 2m. Family and career meant no operating 1969 until 2003. Back on air with EI6AL since then, mainly on CW. Also operate as EA7/EI6AL from time to time. All QSL to EI6AL either through buro, LOTW or EQSL.

Current setup is Kenwood TS480. As there is no room for a large antenna at home QTH the TS480 Control Head is at this QTH and transceiver, SPE Amplifier and  tower are at remote QTH approx 450m ASL on a site in Co Cork, 300 Km southwest of Dublin. Control is via broadband and 3G link. Remote antenna are Optibeam 11/5 11 el 5 Band yagi for 10/12/15/17/20 and Optibeam 40/30 mono for 10 and 7.
