Merchant Navy R/O 1961 - 1967

Electronics Technician in the Marine shipping Industry 1968 -2007

I was originally licenced as G3YXI in 1969. and took over my fathers call sign(G8HI) in1971 after he went "silent key", so as to keep it on the air for another generation!

Interests: HF cw. 6m, 2m, 70cm FM ,SSB and CW.

Also operate as W4/G8HI from Dallas.GA, usually October each year.

The G8HI station consists of :- Kenwood TS570D, Yaesu FT857 for portable work

Antennas :- 26 meter Long wire with remote Automatic Tuner, half size G5RV, Windom 40, Hustler 6BVT and 2m and 70cm beams c/w rotor and a windom 80 for portable working.

The W4/G8HI station consists of :- Icom IC718 and Yaesu FT7800

Antennas :- 85 ft Long wire with remote auto tuner. Windom 80 and colinear for 2m and 70cm.
