in 2012 we will be using the call GB60VUL see http://qrz.com/db/gb60vul for more information.
The Newbury & District Amateur Radio Society (G5XV) originally activated the call GB0VUL from Greenham Common, Newbury in May 2009. In March 2010 the call was also used by members to help raise the profile of the fund raising campaign 'Vulcan to the Sky' which is helping to save the last flying Vulcan Bomber, and keep it flying in years to come. QSL via the RSGB Bureau, eQSL or Direct via M0JEC Please visit www.nadars.org.uk/vulcan.asp for more information see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS-Q2UCg9yU for the appeal video.and see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACui5wMufi0 for a video of the Vulcan flying at Kemble in 2009. Listen to the emotion in the commentators voices towards the end (last 2 mins) it really shows how much this aircraft will be missed if it cannot be kept flying. Please also sign the Vulcan's Guest Book with your callsign and mention NADARS at:- http://www.vulcantothesky.org/guestbook.html GB0VUL was operated again on the 28th and 29th May 2011 Located at:- ATC Hall, St Michaels Road Newbury Berkshire RG14 5PP Was definitely a challenge with the solar storm affecting the bands most of the weekend, but thanks to Richard G3ZGC, Graeme G8JIP, Steve M3YXQ and the ATC Cadets, and those who either visited us at the ATC or worked us on the bands.
Grand Total in under 48 hours was 310 QSO's in 47 DXCC's a result I'm very happy with.
Would have been nice to have run longer but due to commitments else where, we couldn't carry on, and the bands were pretty dire anyway.
Thanks again to everyone who got involved in any aspect of the event.
