I have been on the air since 1962 and continue to enjoy ham radio. I work the at the University of Washington, with occasional 3-4 week vacations to do radio volunteer work in Central and South America (hablo espanol).I am a member of the Western Washington DX Club ( I have a DXCC) and I am active with the my Seattle emcomms organization. I am a big fan of QRP - my rigs include an old Argonaut 509, Small Wonder Labs PSK20, Rockmite 20 and a Hendricks PFR-3. I take one of these little guys backpacking several times per year. The above photo was taken Sept. 2009 on the Pacific Coast of Wa. I often use QRP at the home QTH with a casual eye towards QRP DXCC - I just hatched the idea of creating a " QRP YouTube DXCC " playlist on youtube to show off some QRP DX QSOs, check it out! I continue to be amazed at how much DX can be worked with QRP; it never "gets old". The "QRO" section of K7HV includes an Elecraft K2/100/ATU and a Yaesu-857D. I just refurbed/installed an older Wilson System-33 Tribander to a roof tower @ 36 ft. and have a G5RV up 75ft for the low/WARC bands. You will find me on 80-10 mostly CW though I do enjoy flapping my jaw on SSB and playing with digital modes once in a while. I also enjoy playing bluegrass, blues and fiddle tunes on guitar, mandolin, dulcimer and autoharp. For me, music is like radio; it is an common language that brings folks together. It is ALL about having fun and "playing well with others"! FORMER calls: WPE6CNR, WN6BQS, WB7AQT, WB7PYR, N7COV, NT7S, YN3JG I have operated K7HV portable DL, I2 , HC7, XE2 & PY8 QSLs OK via the Bureau, direct or LOTW (I upload ALL my QSOs, but I am a bit slow to update) - No eQSLs.
