Dear fellow ham Recently I have been doing lots of work on the digital modes and generating tremendous pileups. Many times I hear someone call, I return the call then the band either shifts, goes dead or qrm is just too overwhelming to receive a report. In these cases I do not log the qso. Before sending me a QSL card, please confirm that I haved logged the qso by checking www.hrdlog.net. All my contacts are automatically uploaded after each qso. Thank you Wayne - J73WA J73WA - Wayne first received his amateur radio license in 1986 at age 22. He quickly saw the effectiveness of his hobby as an emergency communication tool especially in vulnerableplaces like Dominica which lies smack in the middle of the hurricane belt and is more likely than not to be affected in some way by hurricanes and storm each year. This propelled him to focus his energy training hams in emergency communication and increasing the ham community's capacity to rapidly and effectively respond to emergencies. Most notably, his efforts are manifested in the near complete islandwide coverage of a hurricane resistant repeater network in which he was intimately involved in planning and installation. By the early 1990s the contest bug bit him and in no time Wayne was participating in contests either actively or providing valuable rare island contacts to other contesters. J73WA presently holds two CQ WW records for Dominica - records which have stood since 1992. By 1999 J73WA's passion for emergency preparedness took him into the field of amateur seismology and started the Dominica chapter of the Public Seismic Network. Amateur radio took a back seat for the next 11 years while he worked towards building community awareness towards the 9 young volcanoes which form the backbone of the island of Dominica on which he lives. J73WA's work can be seen on his website at http://dpsninc.org J73WA is also the administrator of the Caribbean Emergency & Weather Net's (CEWN) website at http://cewn.net. CEWN is a regional amateur radio emergency net which meets twice daily and 24 hours a day during emergencies. This net serves the Eastern Caribbean region.
