<<< Now using LOTW >>> I was first licensed in 1957 as KN0DTJ and then General Class K0DTJ while I was attending University of Colorado in Electrical Engineering. I let my license lapse in about 1972 but have always been into electronic hobbies of various kinds. My interest in ham radio was rekindled when some of my friends in the local Land Rover club began using 2 meters to communicate between vehicles during off-road expeditions. I was relicensed in January and got my original call back in February 2009. I served 20 years in the US Air Force and worked another 15 years in the aerospace industry. I retired in 1998. I enjoy CW operations on all HF bands; rag chewing, DX chasing and a few contests. I particularly enjoy fox hunting in the QRP Fox Hunts (www.qrpfoxhunt.org) both winter season on 80 and 40 meters and the summer season on 20 meters. It's a challenge to dig the QRP signals out of the noise and it has sharpened my operating skill tremendously. I'm also a member of the CW Operators Club (#717) and enjoy the challenges of their twice monthly sprints. For rag chewing, my favorite band is 40 meters - around 7.028 MHz most weekday afternoons and some evenings. When the big contests are on I usually hang out on the WARC bands. I am active with the Half Moon Bay ARES group, providing communications support to events and exercises on the San Mateo County coast.
