I got my novice license in 1960 with the call sign KN0BII and then later my conditional license which was K0BII. My license then lapsed for several years. I obtained another novice license in the mid 80’s with the call sign KA0WVX. Then my General in May of 2008 and finally the Extra in September 2008 with the call sign K0GLT. My primary interests are DXing and QRP using my buddipole/buddistick. I just recently received my first DX Century Club award. My base station is an ICOM – 746 Pro. For portable and QRP operations I use the ICOM 7000 and an Elecraft Kx1. Unfortunately I live in an antenna restricted neighborhood so I am limited to dipoles in the attic and a Comet CH-250 Vertical. At age15 I had aHallicrafter S-107 and Globe Chief Deluxe. I still have them and periodically fire them up just for old time sake. I still love the glow of the tubes. It transports one back in time to a simpler era.I have been retired since January of 2008 having worked in the financial division of Caterpillar Inc. Since retirement my wife and I have traveled extensively and spend a lot of time visiting our 4 children and 7 Grand Kids. Of course I also spend a lot more time on the radio enjoying the greatest hobby in the world!
