Hi! You are likely reading this since you have either worked me or heard me on the air. If you would like to confirm our contact or submit a reception report, email me and I will gladly verify it via an email reply. Here is the new antenna system covering 20 through 10 Meters utilizing a stack of four 10 element log periodic antennas on a 120 ft. rotating tower erected in the Fall of 2010. This antenna replaced the two stacked 18 element logs (seen on the 2003 CQ magazine cover above) lost in a 2008 ice storm. This system has vertical radiation angle control using switchable phasing of the upper two antennas against the lower two antennas. Stacking spacings were optimized for gain consistent with lowest vertical side lobes over the 2:1 frequency range. This resulted in the larger stacking distance between the upper pair and the lower pair seen in the photo below. This system seems to work a bit better than the previous antenna, what do you think? {:>) I operate with a Flex-5000A driving a homebrew 8877 amplifier although I sometimes fire up the Drake T-4XB, R-4B and L-4B for a little nostalgia. I also operate AM and ESSB from time to time as band conditions permit. Why waste good spectrum when it isn't busy? {:>)
