I was licensed as KN3KKA in Wheaton Maryland in 1958 at age 13. I upgraded to General about a year later and finally went to Extra in December 2005. I retired from USAirways in 2004 where I was a pilot for 25 years. I learned to fly in J3 cubs at Davis Airport in Laytonsville, Md. After college I flew as a military pilot / instructor pilot then went to Braniff Airlines in 1978. I was furloughed in 1980 and started USAir in 1981. After USAir retirement I went back to helicopter flying and worked for the Monroe County, Florida (Florida Keys) Sheriff's Office as chief pilot. I retired from that assignment on 2 September 2011 and plan to devote more time to radio and keep my hand in flying as a simulator and platform instructor. My wife, Diana and I reside in the Daytona Beach area. I operate from my home QTH in the Spruce Creek Fly In as well as mobile and maritime mobile from our 36 foot trawler during the summer months. I'm always happy to QSL. I spend most of my operating time on vintage AM and CW and most of that is 40 meters. I have collected and restored 50's era Vintage Tube equipment, a throwback to the good old days growing up in the Wheaton, Md area. My Mohawk, Apache, Warrior station often joins the AM ers on 75 mtrs and 40 mtr CW. Occasionally rotating into the operating position are DX 35, DX 40, DX 60, HR 10B. I have put together plug and play TR switching dedicated to each for ease in set up.
See you on the bands and Have a Blessed Day! Last modified: 2011-09-18 01:37:06, 1773 bytes fetched
