Howdy From the State of Texas! My Ham career started in January 1956 on My Dads lap as a youngster talking on his rig out on our back porch. I'm the one staring at the mic in the picture below. The beam was mounted to a washing machine base and was turned by hand with a pair of vice grips. He had the original call sign K5ECX. I recall a lot of talk about 807's hi hi. I finally took the Tech test in 2009 and was licsened as KF5AUC and found I could gets Dads old sign thru the vanity process. Passed the general in Augustof '09 the extra in February of '12. Lots of PSK 31 and rag chewin' on 80 and 40 meters. Active in local Grayson County Amateur Radio Club, RACES and ARES. PODXS #1287. Hope to catch you on the bands. 73,Rick

Yes it does Snow in Texas, this is winter '10, you might make out the Buxcomm FDTD wire antenna to the left of the QTH.

My tower in progress, 11-23 10. The Buxcomm FDTD is now at 30 ft. White rope is thru a pulley to raise and lower the wire dipole. The tower will go one more section to hold a Mosley 33 jr w/ WARC at 40 ft. It is on a tilting base and will be guyed when finished. Coax and control cables are undergound in conduits.
