This antenna is installed at my office in Denton, Texas. The coil in front of me is made from 1/2 inch copper tubing. That first element is 82 feet long and the boom is 74 feet long. This antenna is a 19 element log periodic which operate from 4-30 MHz.  It works fine on 75 meter phone. The antenna weighs 1600 pounds and sits on top of a 100 foot self supporting tower. It is fed with 1 5/8 inch hard-line.  Gain is 10 to14 db.  I managed to sneak a connection from the antenna matrix into my office. Occasionally I can be found on 20 Meter JT65, PropNet (30M) or 14230 SSTV if the antenna is not being used for something else. I am also a D-Star user and QCWA member.

The call K5OK belonged to my father, Cecil E Shelton, former WWII Radioman, retired LtCDR USNR, and Electrical Engineer (PE). In 1963 Cecil, then K5YBP took his three sons Don (K5VCZ), Jim (WA5EDS) and Bill (WA5KNI) to the FCC Office in Dallas so we could all upgrade our licenses from Conditional Class to General Class. On the trip from Oklahoma, he decided to take the Extra Class test cold and passed it on his first attempt. Back then there was no incentive to upgrade; all three classes had the same band privileges. When the FCC implemented incentive licensing he was able to apply for the call of his choice because of his seniority with the Extra Class License.  As a resident of Oklahoma, he chose and was granted K5OK.  It was not a vanity license. Cecil became SK in 2005. One of his last requests was that I take his call. I am proud to wear his call and I do try to keep up my CW skills for him.

Former US Navy Electronic Technician (Submarines). ET1(SS) Licensed since 1959.

Additional call: EI8KE
