My name is Vince and my home QTH is Rio Rancho, New Mexico. I originally licensed as KE5OJX, but due to a paperwork glitch when I upgraded to General, I was briefly assigned KE5OQC. A few months later I applied for K5VJM. I grew up around Ham Radio but it took me until I was in my early 40’s to actually get licensed and on the air. I have a lot of fun with the hobby and I enjoy making as many contacts as possible. I am also a Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 417 in Rio Rancho, NM. Here's a rundown of my gear: Radios - The picture below is my shack, be it ever so humble. Kenwood TS-120 – upper shelf middle left. Yaesu FT-897 – lower shelf far left. Yaesu FT-2900 – lower shelf far right
Antennas Arrow GP 144/44 – Mounted at the peak of the roof. This would definitely be a testimonial for Arrow antennas. It cost me about $40 and I could not be more pleased with this antenna. Cushcraft MA6-V – The picture below shows my MA6-V mounted on a 10-foot piece of conduit and guyed with simple nylon rope. This is also a great antenna. It works particularly well on 6, 12 and 17 meters, and it covers 10, 15 and 20 with a little help from the tuner.
Dipoles – The 2 pictures below show the separate feed points of my two homebrew dipoles. The wider center conductor feeds the 80 meter wires and the more rectangular conductor feeds the 40 meter wirers.
I like to work HF at home and I’m always listening to the 2 Meter side of the New Mexico Mega Link. If you hear me on the air please give me a call. 73’s and Have a Great Day! Vince K5VJM Last modified: 2012-01-03 14:27:25, 2755 bytes cached
