Hello, thanks for stopping by to read my life story. I attended DeVry Tech after graduating from high school with the idea of working in the TV broadcast industry then decided to get my military obligation out of the way. I volunteered for service in the US Army so I could then choose what school I wanted to attend If I qualified. After attending school at Ft Bliss Texas I was assigned to a Nike Ajax battery later Nike Hercules in the Chicago Gary Defense. I started my working career as an electrician in a steel mill and left after 20 years as assistant maintenance superintendent. Went out to El Paso Texas to work in another steel mill as Electrical Maintenance Manager for a short time and then back to the Chicago Area to work in the Packaging foam industry. That was about the time PLC started to be introduced to manufacturing. I have enjoyed setting up manufacturing lines and writing the processing programs for them.
I got interested in amateur radio while in the Army another NCO and I both got our license and I have enjoyed amateur radio ever since. I have enjoyed all aspects of amateur radio. Spent a number of years running mechanical RTTY equipment. In fact at one time I had a whole basement full of them. Tried Packet radio for a bit, enjoy working SSB on 10 thru 20 meters, love to work the special event stations.I have been retired for 11 years down here in sunny Florida. My staion equipment now consists of a Flex 3000 radio interfaced with an EQF logging program. Since I acquired the Flex radio I no longer use my amp. It is in the closet with all the other analog equipment and after about 50 years I have a bunch and I just hate to part with any of it. I served 18 yearsin the fire Service and was the countys first state certified Paramedic. I have a wonderful wife and four great kids, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Wow, what a great life I have.
