Licensed since 1989, I am currently focusing on DX & Education. In the last few years I completed several DXCC, eDXCC, WAS, eWAS and others awards, and I am working on filling out more bands and modes. Occasionally active with PODXS Member #432, Feld Hell Club #169, Old Man International Sideband Society (OMISS) #6508, The3905Century Club, PolarBear QRP Club, The Society of Midwest Contesters, NAQCC, North East Wisconsin DX Club (NEWDXA), and the Washington Island DX Club (WI9DX). Formerly Member #14 of the now defunct Global Friends Digital Club (placed in some of their contests. too bad they are gone.) A fairly regular Check-In on the Everynight 160m SSB Net when not working or traveling. ARRL VE and Hamcram Instructor. Home QTH Station, as of November 2010, is working a Flex-Radio Flex-5000a Software Defined Radio (SDR) as my primary radio. Currently in addition to operating with a Flex-Radio Flex-5000A& Alpha-78, I have backups of a TenTec and a SGC SG-2020 radios, all routed to either a Tennadyne T-8 Log Periodic, W9INN 1/2 Sloper or Gap Titan DX vertical antenna. The picture above is the Flex-Radio Flex-5000A setup, pictured with the double monitor set-up that has been working very well for me. Some of the other gear are an AmpKeyer, a Begali CW Machine, a Kent Key, a ShuttlePro V2 Rig Controller, an Array Solutions RatPAK Antenna Switch, an Array Solutions Powermaster SWR/Watt Meter, the Yaseu MD-200 Desk Microphone and behind the dual monitors a pair of power supplies. There are additional revised station photos at my blog. Several times a year I help activate Washington Island (Wisconsin - US Island WI-100L) on SSB and with digtal modes. The W9EVT/WI9DX Shack can be seen at http://www.greengate-wibb.com/HamRadio.html Recent projects include adding a Rubidium-source Frequency Reference to the Flex-5000A, the start of some Satellite work, and continued work on a portable HF station. Very much enjoy all the great people I've met through Amateur Radio!! 73 Steve K9ZW ( formerly KB9GPN )
