First licensed in 1968 as WN6JGJ, then WA6JGJ in 1973. Spent six years in the Army, including a tour of Vietnam, 1971-1972, with 12th and 160th Signal groups, then on to Germany with 7th Sig Bn., where I was DA1BV from 1974-1977. Back to the states and civilian life in 1977, worked for Hughes in SoCal, then TRW and a few start-ups in the Bay Area, job moved us to Salt Lake in 2007. Became Extra and KA6B in 1990, in time to take the 20wpm code test before it was too late!
First rigs were my Dad's (SK) NC183D and DX100, xtal controlled, had more fun running 75W on 40M CW then any setup since. Next was a TenTec Argonaut, ran five watts into a dipole on top of our quarters in Germany, all solid state! Then came the Argosy, and after that my lovely Icom751-A which is still my favorite rig even though I have more modern hardware in the shack.
Will catch you on the air.
