Special Notice for those working W8W/P 8-27-10 thru 8-31-10 or 8-22-11 thru 9-5-11 All QSL requests for W8W should be sent to:
Rob Lunsford KB8UEY P.O. Box 74 Phillipsburg, OH 45354-0074
QSL Requests should include a SASE if they are from stateside stations and a SAE and IRC if from outside the US. If the contact was by a county hunter and they wish to use the standard MRC rather than a QSL that is also acceptable. We will be in multiple locations over the time we will be operating so please make certain you mark the location clearly on the card or MRC. We will be logging all contacts, but we are human so it is possible we could make a mistake.
In 2010 W8W was active in the Ohio QSO Party from Salt Fork State Park in Guernsey County.
In 2011 W8W was be active in the Ohio QSO Party. For 2011 we were active from Huber Heights, OH in Montgomery. QSL / MRC requestes will be honored in the same maner as in 2010.
QSL information: I will return QSL’s 100%. If you need Ohio, Montgomery County, or the grid square I happen to be sitting in at the time of the contact feel free to send a card and I will return one. No SASE needed, but they won’t be turned down. If I need your contact qsl’d for an award I am working for a card is probably already on the way. I am still working on mixed band DXCC so if you are a DX contact you will probably see a card quickly (or as quickly as the postal service will get it there).
If the contact is on a 3905 Century Club Net, Tripple H Net, or OMISS Net you can be guaranteed a card will be sent as soon as it can. I know the members of these groups are all working toward awards and cards will be sent promptly.
If a contact was during a contest, it is probably not going to be originated unless I need it for a specific award, but as I said before will gladly reply if you originate. I just make too many contest contacts to be sending QSL’s to all of them. It was different when I was first starting in to HF, but now with all 50 states confirmed on 2 bands and several states on other bands, starting to watch the postage a bit.
I am also good in the W8 QSL Buro as well as upload my contacts to eQSL and LoTW on a regular basis, usually right after a contest or a net. If it is just general operating usually within 24 hours. If you are working toward a specific award and need it to LoTW or eQSL quicker just let me know and I will upload upon conclusion of the QSO.
Special Note For W8BI QSL’s: QSL’s for W8BI: Cards have been printed. There are over19,000 qso’s in the log since January 1, 2006. I started with qso’s that we have cards for first, and then oldest qso’s and will continue till I have them all done. So far over10,000 cards have been sent out. Please send cards to my address, SASE not required, but appreciated. If you send to W8BI’s mailing address I will get it, but it may take a couple weeks. If you have sent to eQSL or LotWit will be confirmed if I have it in the logs. W8BI is good in the incoming DX buro.
Now for the bio stuff:
I have been licensed since 1994 as a Technician till August 10, 2007 when I passed my General. I am a former ARES AEC and a former NM for the OH District 3 ARES Net and the Miami Valley Traffic Net.
My latest achievements in amateur radio include now being the QSL manager for W8BI and now starting to prep for my4th year as Committee Chairman for the Talk-In committee for the Dayton Hamvention.
I was named the chair of the field day committee in 2007 thru 2009 for WC8OH. Of all amateur radio activities field day is probably my favorite activity that is not an every day thing. For 2010 I was one of 4 ops for K3QY operating 2A KY from Daniel Boone National Forrest. 2011 Field Day will find me along with most of the same crew from 2010 (and a couple additions) at Cowan Lake operating as K3VIN 2A OH.
With my upgrade to General I am enjoying the HF privileges and operating more on HF than I am on VHF & UHF these days. It is real nice to be able to talk to folks who do not care about local club politics and will just talk to you because you are a fellow amateur.
A special note for any DX contacts I make, I finally found someone with a brain at the post office who understood what an IRC was and they only order them as needed, and do not stock them. This means I may have a delay if some are needed for contacts I make. I am good in the W8 QSL Bureau.
I have already received Mixed Band WAS as well as 75m, 40m, & 160m SSB WAS. I am right now lacking 1 contact and 1 additional confrimation for 20m WAS. Also slowly working toward my first DXCC, but with my work schedule it is rough. I have now worked84 countries (78 confirmed). As a side note, now also active on PSK so starting to work on WAS in the digital world while trying to finish up 20 & 17m phone as well. Would like to try 10m WAS but just never seem to time it right to get openings on 10m. Last modified: 2011-09-07 08:38:49, 9691 bytes cached
