KJ4NUI - 27 July 2009 to 19 Aug 1009 AJ4SJ - 20 August 2009 to 8 September 2009 KC0JO (Vanity call - Que Cojo) - since 9 September 2009 I became interested in amateur radio as a teenager. My interest was rekindled by a dear friend who has been active as a ham for over 40 years. I passed my Tech and General tests a few days later and my Extra about a month later (August 2009). The handle "DOC" was given to me by the local amateur radio club. I was a practicing Obstetrician/Gynecologist for about 25 years (hence the QSL card) - until April 2008 - when I developed a disability that precludes me from delivering babies and performing surgery. I am currently running a ICOM 746PRO with a Heil Pro Elite headset. Antennas included a G5RV (tuned with a LDG AT-1000Pro) strung over my house at about 35 feet, a hex beam antenna at about 30 feet and a quad band vertical for 6 meters and shorter. I occasionally utilize an Ameritron AL-811H amplifier. I am particularly interested in DX contacts (I love to travel and visit with people from all over the world) and in emergency communications. I am trustee for and manage KD4LDS, the emergency communications station for the Roanoke Virginia Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I truly appreciate the kind attitude that seems to pervade the ham radio community. 73s to all.
