In the past I have hosted the "Community College Amateur Radio Club" at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, NY. Their operations will hopefully soon be sponsored by the Jefferson County Radio Amateur Club at the club facility in Alverson, NY. Look for the students to be on the air under the call of KC2ELX. QSL cards are their greatest rewards so please reciprocate.

Currently I am the Activities Manager for JCRAC-Watertown and have my hands in many other radio related projects including assisting BSA as a radio merit badge counselor and working with wounded solders from the US Army 10th Mountain Division providing free time activities and classes.

At home, I am (and for the past 2 years) building onto a station that has fulfilled a life long dream (life always begins at 9) to work the world from home. So far the HF station runs two TS-520s, a TS-140s, a HW-101, a Swan 500, and sometimes an FT-847. For antennas it uses a reconditioned Cushcraft ATB-34 @ 70’ mounted over a Ham 4, a G5RV slightly sloped parallel to ground @ 40’ to 60’ aat ending at the southern tower. The Map indicator is best viewed in the Hybrid mode. The red indicator denotes the exact location of the northern tower.  The second tower is 140' to the southwest. Oh and yes, my station is located in West Carthage, not Black River.

Future plans include a pair of slopers, one at 40/80 meters, and one at 20 meters both starting at 60 ft. The upper frequencies are taking shape one installation at a time. Projects include a Flexnet Digipeter, 146/220/440 all mode terrestrial and sat as/el, plus 2mtr FPLR (fixed path long range) beams for regional communication emergencies. Microwave would be nice if anyone else here was into it.

The mobile gear starts with a TS-50/AT-50 pair into an Outbacker Perth. VHF and UHF are via a TM-D700A with an onboard MTX laptop for portable Flexnet and Packet. Various other county radios clutter the console area.

Personally I am active in 3 clubs over 2 counties. I participate with RACES and ARES in my area and I am currently building 2 portable communication towers for public demonstration stations and emergency use. Please visit my web page to see how things are progressing. Emails are always welcome.

I like to QSL. Please use snail mail service to above address.

Happy hamming and hope to catch you on the air!
