Goodday, the handle here is "KC" kilo charlie After a career of working in communications, VLF through KU band - analog and digital, I decided to give it a try. Three tickets later and the reality of a G5RV jr on a small lot for HF, I discovered ICOM'S DSTAR radios (2M, 70CM, and 23 CM). More importantly I met a tremendous group of DSTAR friendly folks here in Southern California. I joined the PAPASYS(.NET) the group that is responsible for all the DSTAR infrastucture here in San Diego as well as several more repeaters in the north covering the LA area. They have even more analog repeaters! SO what a DSTAR footprint, from the Mexican border through San Diego north passed LA to SIMI Valley! AND they let me run a NET! :) Just recently the same hard working group of individuals got the USS MIDWAY CV-41 (NI6IW) registered as a DSTAR user and we had an excellent special event turn out on December 7th. Look for future special events. Feel free to use REF12 here in San Diego. Once KI6LQZ, now KC6B, equally proud of my new callsign and will treat it with respect in the community until I to become a SK. Cheers and 73's, KC
