Charles - KC8VWM About me: SWL since 1974. Many years before becoming a licensed ham. As a 10 year old, I used to enjoy listening to a 1940's dusty Stromberg Carlson floor model SW reciever (Model SW 55 - The one with the green colored magic tuning eye located in the center, just above the main tuning dial.) It all started when the "junk radio" my parents "threw away" in the garage became my source of interest on many chilly evenings. I also enjoy collecting and restoring vintage military boatanchor equipment like the BC 348 Q at this link I mostly collect and restore military radio's. Collectable Navy, Army and Airforce rigs make up much of the equipment in the shack. Much of it is from my SWL'ing days of the 70's / 80's and 90's. I also enjoy working the kc8vwm solar powered FT-817ND QRP rig on CW on field day to playing with the big dogs in the SSB contests using the FT1000mp MkV. I often explore VHF and above. I like to play with digital radio modes, engage in weak signal work, shoot the birds, track the space station or sometimes I watch the waterfall while searching the sky for EME communications. You might enjoy one of my homebrew VHF antenna projects at this link. My Best, 73 de Charles KC8VWM
