Been mainly working (monitoring) PSK31 on digital, 10/12/15/17 when the bands cooperate with my HF setup (usually never) or on 20m otherwise. I say working but its mostly listening. I have a lot of bugs to work out with the AH-4 and how I have it set up.  Also discovered JT65, so look there.

BS Engineering Physics from the University of Tulsa, working in Information Technology. Studying for the Tech & General brought back a few memories of classes and exams at TU!! The AE test looks like even more review, haven't seen some of this stuff in a long, long time!

I also enjoy restoring old vacuum tube radios, you can see them at AntiqueRadioBlog.com. I started there, then worked up into SWL with the old sets, then newer ones, and here I am transmitting. I go by 'Ripp' on ARF and other old radio sites.

Finished sets include a '37 RCA 86T, '48 Philco 48-1266, and a '46 GE 321 among others. Oldest project I have is a '28 Atwater Kent Model 40, and the newest I've worked on are a few '63 models, unless you count the beat up '75 Solid State Curtis Mathes console. (I don't!)

Just finished a 1963 Airline AM/FM/Phono Stereo Console. Ugly old beast but sounds excellent. Need to get a few 78rpm records to try that side of the cartridge!

Currently looking for schematics for a '59 Nova-Tech "Air-O-Ear" 710-WN VHF Air Band Receiver, some Hallicrafters S-38C knobs, and, and.

Come to find out my grandfather was also an avid ham back in the day, but I can't seem to find any other info than that. Anyone knows a Gus Ripp from Wisconsin's call sign, please let me know. No I don't know any time frame. Probably 50's to 60's into early 70's. Perusing a 1963 "Call Book" I didn't find him, but maybe I missed it. Could be later, could be earlier, I don't know.

and Go Packers! Was that not a terrible call? Was it?

More to Come.
