Hello. John here . . . Born and raised in Kettering Ohio (Near Dayton, Ohio). I've been a ham for 37 years. Started out in 1975 at age 13 with the Novice license and call, WN8SVN. Advanced to Extra in 1977 with the call WB8SVN. Lived in Phoenix,Arizona for 2 years, Rockford Illinois for 9 years and now Placentia, California for the past 18 years. Traded in the 8 call for KF6I in 1998. Educated at University of Dayton (BSEE) and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (MSEE) as an Electrical Engineer specializing in antennas. Work as an EMI Engineering Consultant / Chief Engineer for DNB Engineering, Inc, Fullerton, CA. Live in Placentia with my wife Theresa, N9MTO, and six great kids ranging in age from 12 to 24. One graduated and three are in college now. Exploring the new digital modes like PSK31, WSPR, ESSB (i.e high fidelity audio) and Meteror Scatter on 6 and 2 meters. Primary equipment is ICOM IC 756 Pro III, Cushcraft R-7 Vertical and CL-33 Tri-bander (only up 10 feet right now), various wire antennas. Amplifier is a Ameritron AL-1500. On 6 meters I run an ICOM IC-7000 with a modified Ameritron AL80A putting out about 700 Watts. For ESSB, I have acquired a Kenwood TS-850SAT, DSP-100, Bellari RP-520 preamp and a Behringer DEQ 2496 processor and XM-882 mixer.
