Aloha, First licensed in 1978 (age 14) as KA1CBO and then as N1ARP I operated from various locations in New England from '78 to '82. After I did not operate until December of 2009 when my son Matt (WH7XM age 13) and I (KH7BB) got our licenses in Hawaii. Since then and with the support of Lloyd KH6LC we have built a modest station here on the Big Island of Hawaii. We enjoy all aspects of the hobby and you can often find me on 20 or 40 meters in the evenings. In addition to ragchew and DX you will hear KH7BB in most major contests. Recent contests include CQ WPX SSB where we were 1st place Oceania SOA and 3rd place World SOA with a tribander. The antenna is a Mosley TA53 at 16 feet so I felt pretty good about that result :). Equipment currently consists of a Yaesu FT1000D, a QRO 2500DX amplifier, a 40 meter dipole at 12 feet, and a triband antenna at 16 feet. Later this year I will be installing a 54' tower with an Optibeam 12-4 antenna. The photo posted is one I took of the lava entering the ocean about 15 miles from my house around May of this year. I do QSL direct but it does take some time so please be patient, I recieve many cards.
Aloha & 73 Carl KH7BB
