Kathy Erken is a California licensed real estate person with over 25 years experience in the high end, stressful world of expensive California home sales. To reduce the stress and have more fun in life, she now manages a surety bond business (civil & criminal bonds) with her extra class amateur radio elmer, AA6T. Kathy is a licensed California Bail Bond Agent and a licensed California Private Investigator. She is also a certificated NRA range safety officer and pistol instructor.

Her daughter Chris, AF6JI is also an extra class ham so she has a lot of support and training built in to her ham radio experiences. Her car is equipped with a Kenwood D7 (for APRS activities) and that is attached to an Avmap G-5 magical GPS receiver with a color display. She uses a Yaesu FT-60 handheld to access some of the San Francisco Bay area repeaters and communicate with her daughter and grand daughters. Kathy has access to several complete HF stations but claims that this is about as far as she is going to go in the world of amateur radio. She has commented for years about the techni-digi-head geeks with those antennas all over their homes and vehicles. Well it has finally happened Kathy, you are now one of them !!
