I finally have a photo to complete my set of pictures of the Three Capes. Self portrait at 45 feetwith the Mosley beam and "business end" of the Davis weather station.
Fortunately, my wife doesn't like tall trees around our yard. "Tall trees are unsafe in the east winds we get." So, over the years as she has wanted trees cut down I've made a token protest about doing it. Inwardly I've been very happy that the tower will have no competition from nearby trees. Only a small, well groomed, Amur Maple has survived the chain saw.
My work has taken me to over 57 DXCC Countries. Ex: 5W1DN, ZL0AEP, VK4AVH, VK2AVH, VK2FZU I also operated in: England, Germany, Italy, Israel, Venezuela, Jamaica, and Hong Kong. The following are pictures I took at two of the "Three Capes".
The Three Capes are best known among circumnavigating sailors.
Cape Leuwin Western Australia
El Faro del Fin del Mundo in Beagle Channel near Cape Horn.
My picture - and negative -of the Cape of Good Hope was accidently discarded in a "dejunking" frenzy. I'll get another one to replace it somehow, somewhere do you have one to share? If so please email me about it.
Nov 2011: Whaddaya know! I now have an even better picture than my original, courtesy of ZS1AFS. Tom has a very interesting story, look at his QRZ.com listing.
