QSL direct for TI5/KU0DM with SASE. Will also upload to LoTW, no bureau or eQSL. -- In July of 2010, myself and a team of other youths will be traveling to TI5N in Costa Rica for a DXpedition. The goal of the trip being to learn the fine art of DXing and running a pile-up, as well as to foster interest and friendship around the world. You can visit: http://qsl.net/n6jrl/ Please consider donating to the cause, as we hope to make this an annual event. Any extra money raised will go to future trips. -- Hello! I am currently 16 years old and an Amateur Extra. I was licensed Technician with code on 2/4/06, upgraded to General on 4/15/06 and finally Extra in January of 2007. The other hams in my family are K0CEY (SK), WD0FHK, KC0BS, KB0BAW, KB0AWL, KC0KTP, KC0QIN, KC0QIO, KC0ZNO, KC0ZVT, KD0EVO, KD0EVW, KD0JQW, KD0JQH, KD0JVL, and KD0IJU. Callsign: I was originally assigned KC0VVU, but once I got my Extra changed it to KU0DM. KU as I am a big KU fan, DM are my initials. Operating: I probably spend much more time listening in pileups than calling CQ. I love DXing, and am currently working on a little station rebuild (see equipment), once I'm finished I hope to be more competitive in the pileups, my current standing is around 150 worked. However I reserve the weekends for another facet of the hobby I hold dear: contesting! I tend to operate in the majors contests (lately chasing DX to get my count up), however I plan to start spending more time running. A good friend, Lee Bergren W0AR passed earlier this year on May 1st, 2009 at 93. He left me with many stories, wisdom, and teachings in Ham Radio. However one of the biggest gifts he left was his callsign, W0AR. Lee acquired that prior to the Vanity program, and it is truly a beautiful call in many ways. You will hear me operating using W0AR during various contests, using W0AR in memory of a DXer, contester, engineer, friend, and Ham. Lee Bergren W0AR, January 12, 1916-May 1, 2009
Doing some hunting in CQ WW CW 08 at W0AR (SK, in the background) I have been operating many contests from the K0KU, University of Kansas ARC club station. They have a very nice station in place, consisting of an Icom 756 ProIII and TH7 at 70' plus legal limit. Although I'm not a student at KU, the club has been very welcoming.
Operating 20m CW during FD @ K0KU
Running on 15m CW at K0KU M/2 for NAQP CW. Alex, KU1CW on 20.
Outside of Ham Radio: I am also a Boy Scout with Troop 98. I am an Eagle Scout and a Brotherhood member in the Order of the Arrow and a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, tribal name is Blue Spark Chaser. I run Cross Country and Wrestle on Junior Varsity at my high school, Shawnee Mission East. Thanks for taking the time to read my bio! Hope to hear you on the air, 73, and best DX! de KU0DM Last modified: 2011-01-21 22:36:55, 3721 bytes cached
