Originally from Nebraska. 6 years in Navy as an engineering laboratory technician and machinist mate (nuclear trained). Served on the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN-705) and the USS Holland (AS-32). Did maintenance on various primary and secondary systems (propulsion plant) and worked on pressurized oil, air, and oxygen systems. Attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 5 years and got my BS in Chemical Engineering and MS in Engineering. Did research on projects relating to alternative fuels (principally biodiesel). Attended University of Nebraska Medical Center (Omaha) and became a Family practitioner. Fellowship trained to work in rural communities. I now reside in Clinton, MO with my Wife and two daughters. New to amateur radio and fairly interested. Short term HAM goals are to get my Davis Vantage pro weather station online via APRS (just gotta get it on a pole).get APRS in my vehicle up and running (done) and get a good radio to use for phone and packet stuff (done). I am currently studying aspects of emergency communications and will work to assist as needed at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital should the need for emcomm arise. Mostly active on JT65-HF, PSK31 and now working a little but of 2m weak signal (ssb). Frequency Measuring has been my latest interest. This can be a very challenging aspect of amateur radio and has resulted in a much closer study of the inner workings of my equipment. Have recently been characterizing the interaction between the software and the DDS chip on my Flex-5000. Recently purchased a GPS Disciplined Oscilator (GPSDO) frequency reference and have been trying to get the most out of it. The goal is to measure over the air frequencies very accurately. Currently comfortable to about 1 millihertz or a bit better but the atmosphere plays havok with over the air signals so I may needs a dvining rod.hi hi. My other major hobby is being a ringside physician for amateur boxing and mixed martial arts. I am trained as a ringside physician and am a member of USA Boxing and American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians. I have provided services for the National Championships at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and at the Ringside Tournament in Kansas City as well as local MMA shows in the region here including Warrensburg, Sedalia, Osage Beach, and Clinton, MO.
