Hi, my name is Rob, I'm 24 and my home QTH is Swindon, UK. I orginate from Devon, UK and I am an enthusiastic member of the Poldhu Amateur Radio Club (GB2GM) in Cornwall, UK. I like to operate HF and VHF using both voice and digi modes. My main rig is a Yaesu FT-857D but I also use a Kenwood TH-F7E Dual Band handheld and a Yaesu VR-500 handheld scanner. At present I don't have the facilities to install an aerial at my home QTH so all of my HF operating is done as a portable station from a nearby hill-top using the Yaesu ATAS-120A. The limitation of this is that it doesn't cover 80m and it can be difficult to break through a pile-up. I have tried various home brew 80m antenna designs but have yet to find something that works effectively. I operate at several special events throughout the year with PARC including:- Helston Motor Show (GB0HMS) / Railways on the Air (GB0HBL) / SSB Field Day (G3MPD) / Marconi Day (GB2GM). If you use Facebook, please be sure to join the Poldhu ARC group for pictures and news on special events throughout the year. If you would like to get in contact then please use the e-mail above. 73's Rob Last modified: 2011-07-07 18:04:28, 1919 bytes fetched
