Iain (M1OOO) and Mike (G7FEK) are active astronomy members of the Norman Lockyer Observatory in Sidmouth, Devon, located 8 radio miles east of Woodbury Hill Fort, and where both are telescope and night sky presenters. They promote awareness of the Observatory and Amateur Radio in general through Special Event Stations and other portable operations. For links to the Observatory, click here. BRIEF HISTORY Woodbury Castle is an Iron Age Hill Fort overlooking the village of Woodbury, 8 miles Southeast of Exeter. At 185 metres (607ft) asl it has a commanding position over the Exe Estuary, Lyme Bay and English Channel. The structure is a prehistoric military type earthwork which was re-fortified between 1798 and 1803 during the threat of invasion in the Napoleonic Wars.
