Please note: I do not EQSL,I only QSL the good old fashioned paper way,all QSL cards must come direct to my current QTH address as described above on here & not to the RSGB bureau as i am not a member & as from April 2012 they now charge non members to receive cards. Also I do not require USD's or IRC's as I strongly believe that if it costs you the sender to post me QSL cards then I do not expect contributions to send you QSL cards back, nor do i send money to receive cards as this is both against the Ham spirit and costs work both ways in this world, that aside i will always return QSL cards 100%.
Hi my name is Shaun im 37yrs old & live in Chester with my family & dog Max. I have been an avid SWL listener on HF for the past 20+yrs & decided i may aswell do some talking ,so I sat the foundation course. I am an Iraq veteran and the top picture is of me when i was in the British Army & served on Op Telic 4 in 2004,my duties were mainly Force Protection such as escorting both military & civilian convoys into & out of Iraq,VCP's,Guard at MNDSE & some CP work. My regiment was 4 Queens Lancashire Regt, this was the regiment to hold the most battle honours within the British army prior to us being amalgamated with the Kings own Border Regt (now Duke of Lancasters),even the Para's borrowed our Regimental colour of maroon, but i forgive them for stealing/borrowing our colour off an infantry Regt ;O)
My HF station consists of a Kenwood TS-570DG which i use with a RED5 RV6 studio condensor microphone powered by & running through a Behringer Shark DSP-110.
My antenna's due to local planning restrictions are a Sirio 827 5/8 wave which i also use on the bands between 20-10 meters and has produced some great QSO's including to my friend Razi YI1RZ in Iraq on both 10 & 12 meters,as for lower down the bands on 80-40 meters i use a 67ft Western HF-10 dipole/doublet which produces great results with a low noise floor http://g0kya.blogspot.com/2010/08/western-hf10-multiband-dipole.html
I mainly work voice, especially on 20/17/15/12/10 meters. I hope to QSO with as many people as possible in the forthcoming years from all continents.
