I was first licensed in 1978 with a Novice call of KA0BTZ.Upgraded in 1979 to General with the call of N0AJZ.Got my Advanced ticket in 1980.Changed my call to W0LCR when the vanity call system started.Upgraded to Extra in January 2000, before the incentive licensing started.I waited all those years to upgrade , because I thought I could not pass the 20 wpm code test, then passed first time I took the test. I now enjoy CW, AM, SSB, Digital modes and repairing old tube equipment.Enjoy rag chewing and DXing. As of January 2012 I have 345 countries confirmed including deleted.I retired 2 years ago from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft / Boeing, so now I have plenty of time to enjoy Amateur Radio. My current shack has the following equipment: Ten-Tec Orion I, Yaesu FT1000MP Mark V, Yaesu FT1000MP, Ten-Tec Omni VI +, Yaesu FT-450AT, Collins "S" line, Drake TR-7, Drake TR4 (My original first Amateur Radio), and for AM I use a EF Johnson Valiant and Viking II Transmitter and a Collins R390A Receiver and Hammarlund 140X. Amplifiers are Commander HF-2500, Drake L4B, and Collins 30L-1. YES, as my wife keeps reminding me , I have way too many radios. But with over 30 years of accumulating these , I hate to part with them! I live in a tower/antenna restricted community , but I do have many trees to put antennas. Currently I use a Traffie Hex-Beam, OCF Dipole, Flagpole antennas, and numerous wire antennas. If I can hear them I can usually work them.
73 And hope to hear you on the bands.
