Ike is a nickname picked up many years ago and what I am called by friends and what I am known by on the air. Licensed in 1954 as Wn3AZR changed to N3IK twhen FCC allowed Extra's to choose 2 letter callI had several other calls over the years due to moving to new states for my work. Work all bands 160 through 2. Love cw but do work ssb, . Prefer cw rag chewing some DXing and will parciipate in a contest or two from time to time. Recently got intp PSK 31. I live on a 2 1/2 acre lot which allows me to play with a lot of antennas.Right now I use a modified G5RV which has been very good all around antenna also have 40 meter loop at 70 feet and a bobtail array for 20. Top loaded vertical for 160 will be ready by fall 2011. Normally run 100 watts but am an active QRP op and can be found chirping away on a peanut whistle on 40 and 20 quite frequently Rigs in the shack are FT-857, FT-817 and HW-8. Have several classic tube rigs but do not use on the air as no room in the shack which is in my living room. Have 2 little kids at home; Katie 9 who likes to chat on fone every chance she gets. And Lars who is also a ham N3LPK, he is 14 and been licensed since age 11. Lars likes psk 31 which is why I have taken it up, he knows code but refuses to even try to work it (frustrates the OM! Lars is only one of 8 kids who has a license. Several hobbies include collecting QSL and post cards. Building and flying rubber power model airplanes and gliders. I am an avid fisherman (fly, spin and bait castg) and like to camp. also enjoy photography and other outdoor activities. A little over two years ago spinal surgery left me in a wheel chair, so do not participate in a lot of outdoor activities right now. .
