The term "elmer" means to help, teach, aid or assist a fellow amateur radio operator.

The Amateur Radio Service is better served when we take time to share knowledge

& experience that's gained through our troubles and trials in this ham hobby.

The nickname "Ham Nut" is from an msn.com group we founded some years ago: "Ham Nut's World"

Through this group we introduced a lot of "non-hams" to this exciting hobby!!

Met a lot of people and shared a lot of radio/computer/internet related info.

Sure do miss "Ham Nut's World" a !broken heart

MSN did away with these web sites but I keep the name alive via internet means!

Visit our personal web site @ QSL.NET

Need some radio or tower help? Have own tools!! Just ask! We try to honor all requests!!

yesWe can be easily contacted!! -- We're in the phone book here! And we're CHEAP!

Elmer to all hams!

Do You Just Belong?

Are you an Active amateur, the kind that would be missed?
Or are you just contented, that your name is on the list?
Do you attend the meetings and mingle with the crowd?
Or do you stay at home, and crab both long and loud?
Is your input ever acted on, to make it better tick?
Or leave the decisions to just a few, and talk about the clique?
Do you take an active part, to help all hams along?
Or are you satisfied, to be the kind that just belongs?
There are lots of things that happen, that mean success if done.
It can be easily accomplished, with the help of everyone.
So attend the meetings regularly, and be heard with voice and heart.
Don't be just a member, but take an active part.
Carefully think this over fellow ham, are we right or wrong?
Are YOU an active member? or "DO YOU JUST BELONG?"

Sometimes I need "proper guidance" in amateur radio use. Never too old to learn, huh!!

Especially on the HF Digital modes! Just ask my dear friend Martin (W3MLK). Hi Hi

Have joined the 30 Meter Digital Group just recently via Martin's invitation. Click Logo

30 Meter Digital Group: Member #4456 30MDG

Some of my greatest elmers are now "Silent Keys". KW4P, W4DX, K4KR, WB5DRE

May God Bless their memories †††

There are a few 'ham radio' web sites that I am proud of due to the fact that I am their manager and creator. I spend a lot of time on the internet trying to encourage potential "hams" into obtaining their "ticket" (license). A lot of my time can be found being spent on Twitter and Facebook. Will have to 'Allow' you to Follow me on Twitter to avoid spammers and will have to 'Friend' you on Facebook for same reason. You will need an account in both places to participate. Sorry!! That's the internet!!crying

Will have to Search my FULL name on Facebook.blushI'm the one in Jasper, AL

Special thanks to all of you who have followed up on our information over the years and have since obtained their own 'ticket.' Follow that up now by getting ur General!! QSL??

To date we have assisted a number of area hams in antenna and tower installations.

Also, have helped folks to find a vanity call sign that had their initials or had lettering that pertained to a specific interest. That was a real nice gesture. I thought!! Hi Hi Don't do that very often now these days.

The "XYL", Carol is licensed as N4VBS

Our son, Timothy, is now licensed as K4TEP

We monitor all area 2 Meter repeaters during the day and early evening hours. And am in scan mode when we are out mobile. Mostly we can be called on 146.450 MHz Simplex or 146.900 MHz repeater (WB4ACN)

All three of us here in the family are members of the ARRL

Currently, we are not members of any local amateur radio clubs as of January 2011 and have no immediate desires to join any. Personal reasons. Just don't believe everything you hear about us??

And we are certified Storm Spotters for the National Weather Service

That's us with the SKYWARN "EYE" (Tornado) on APRSSearch: N4EMP-1

Follow Walker Skywarn on Twitter for WX reports: Walker_Skywarn

About QSO confirmations: Please consider using LOTW and let me know when our QSO is uploaded!

There's always the possibility I failed to upload a tq8 file for a QSO. Let me know if you aren't confirmed!!

And I am always extremely proud to send/receive "paper" here -- Send me yours and get mine back!

No SASE required on my end!

To me, receiving a QSL card is like a 'friendly long distance' hand skake!

I don't keep a record of who I sent one to so it's always possible I missed sending mine!

Just drop us an email stating you would love to have our card --- We'll REPLY!!

Located in CQ Zone: 4 ITU Zone: 8 Grid Square: EM63

We also use the eQSL system but may not readily confirm you. SORRY!!!
