Retired from U.S. Air Force Reserve's on July 4th,1997. Spent 20 years in military service, starting out in the U.S.Navy, on 5 July, 1962, as a Radioman aboard the USS Robert A. Owens, DD-827, and working with cw, as our main source of communications. Participated in the Gitmo Cuban Missle Crisis of 1963, and two Med. Cruises, plus involuntarily extended as participant in the Vietnam War,in 1966. Took an 11 year break in service and used my GI Bill to go to college to obtain a Business Degree. Also, got married in that same time span, and worked at various jobs, before returning to active military service again in the Navy, flying on the P3-AC Orion ASW A/C . Put in 12 yrs of active Naval service. In 1989, decided to join the Air Force Reserves as a communicator. Worked for the 37th Aero Medical Evac Group, during the Desert Shield/Storm war, and then changed to Global H.F. Communications at Mac Dill, A.F.B. handling priority traffic between air to ground comms. with high priority aircraft for mainly phone patches. Did this until my retirement in 1997. Worked for U.S. Postal Service, in Orlando, Fl. in Administrative Operations, for a total of 25 yrs. counting my Military Service, and retired on Jan.31,2002. My total years of communication exp. amounts to around 30, both military and civillian. I became a Ham on Aug.16th,1988, being a late bloomer, and have worked my way up to Extra class operator. At home qth,have Rohn 25 tower, in back yard up at 94ft. My qth, is located in Deltona, Fl., which is about 36 miles n.e. of Orlando, Fl. My favorite bands, are 17 and 20 mtrs., and have worked the others on H.F. SSB, at various times, and also, now on PSK-31 and working the various data modes available there. Ga.,Pilot flying out of Sanford,Fl. (KSFB) when time permits. Love Amateur radio and flying and plan on being arnd the bands for quite some time to come. All QSL's will be answered when received. Looking forward to working you on the bands! My wife, (Y.L.) just recently became a Ham, as of March, 2010. Her callsign is nowN4GRR and holds a Tech. License. Look for her to up-grade in the very near future to General Class.
