Born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Attended Brother Martin High School, University of New Orleans (for a brief period), and Delgado College. I had twenty fun-filled, action-packed years in the Air Force (Lackland, Lowry, Lakenheath, Altus, Nellis, Tinker, Aviano, and Offutt) and I stayed in the Omaha area — Bellevue actually. Post military I worked for a couple of years as a Systems Engineer at First National Bank of Omaha. I did about four and a half years as an infrastructure consultant for Microsoft. I also worked for Microsoft as Technical Account Manager in the Omaha area for eight years. I currently teach PC Technology at Wright Career College in Omaha.

I married my high school sweetheart, Susan Reardon. Together we have raised two wonderful children, Kelly and Stephen. 2003 was the year of college graduations — myself in January, Stephen in May, and Kelly in December. 2004 was the year of weddings — Kelly in June and Stephen in October. Aside from the disruption to family caused by Hurricane Katrina, 2005 was pretty quiet. 2006 brought the announcement that grandchildren were on the way in 2007. We now have three adorable grandchildren and another one on the way in 2012.

I was incredibly frustrated by the events of Hurricane Katrina, specifically about not being able to contact relatives that were working in hospitals in New Orleans after the flooding. Well I guess that some good has come out of that. It has spurred me on to become active in the local HAM community. I don’t know exactly how it will all play out, but I am getting involved and things are moving forward. I have completed the ARECC Level I - III courses. I manage the web site for the local ARC (www.bellevuearc.org). I am a life member of the ARRL and my field appointments include registered instructor, technical specialist and a VE. I serve at the VE liaison for the Bellevue club and also help with the Heartland DX/Aksarben VE team. I am also active in the local ARES and RACES organizations and spend a lot of weekends working events.

Continuously licensed since 1983, 2006 saw me get on HF for the first time.

God is good! All the time!

Bob/NBØB
