Licensed in 1961 as WN8ADB, novice at age 14 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upgraded to general class about two months later as WA8ADB. Operated as portable Zero in mid-70s out of Colorado. Became WB0JBP in late 70s or early 80s. Was briefly KC0ZV, advanced class. Became NC0B, extra class, about 1988. Founded Sherwood Engineering in 1974, offering Drake upgrades. Started testing transceivers in 1976, which now total over 100. Data now available on the web at http://www.sherweng.com/table.html The shack picture is of operating position #1and is presently a Pro III and Alpha 99, remote setup with an IC-746Pro and THP linear is Ops #2, and Ops #3 is used for rig evaluations and 6 meter operation. 99% of my operation is now at my rural QTH east of Ft. Collins, CO, where the XYL and I spend our weekends. I have wire antennas for 160, 75, 40, 30 & 12 meters, and 40 - 2 meters are covered with 10 mono-band yagis. All the HF yagis are old-fashoned Hy-gain LJ-series that are reliable and easily trammed into place with only two people and some rope! The 40-meter center-fed extended double zepp (EDZ) is also used on 75, and the 160 meter Marconi T (top-loaded vertical) also does double duty on 75, with a different take-off angle from the horizontal. The newest yagi is a 3-element 17 meter monobander mounted below the 5-element 10 meter yagi. Yagi antennas: 402BA @ 70 feet, 204BA @ 70 feet, 203BA @ 40 feet, 173BA @ 60 feet, 153BA @ 68 feet, 155CA at 70 feet, 103BA at 60 feet, 105CA at 67 feet, Ariane Arrays 5-element 6 meter @ 50 feet, and finally a Cushcraft 4-element 2-meter 124WB @ 75 feet. All yagis are fed with either 7/8ths or 1/2 inch hardline. Wire antennas: 160 meter T antenna @ 60 feet, 40 meter EDZ at 65 feet , 30 meter dipole @ 60 feet and a 12 meter harmonic zepp @ 40 feet with useful lobes in four direction. A Hy-gain 123BA is awaiting spring weather and a longer mast on the 20 meter tower.
