You must heard me on the air. we recently located to Tulsa, OK from Tampa, FL. Im looking to do a modest station setup here in Oklahoma. Likely no tower like in Florida but we will have a HF signal that works. When we decided to move from Tampa to Tulsa, I decided to change the callsign to a district callsign and I wanted to have a 2X1 callsign. Until we move again I will hold this callsign and use it. My previous callsign was N9RLR which I had for nearly 19 years. I was licensed in Peoria, IL at the Peoria (PAARC) Superfest. I had a great time with the guys there. I have lived in numerous cities around the USA and the world due to my career and met many interesting people. On of my last places of domiclies was in Tampa where there were very helpful folks. I hopefully made a positive impact there within the TARC and RANT groups. The RANT group and TARC club there are great people to help out or get help if you can if you are in the Tampa area. Check out the websites if so inclined.www.hamclub.org and www.w4rnt.org. You can monitor my APRS movements on www.aprs.fi looking for NM5I-3. I use a Davis Weather system, NM5I for details on South Tulsa weather. NM5I-2 and/or NM5I-3 will show my mobile APRS station. I also run APRS on my iPad via APRS-xl and openAPRS. My current project I am tackling is a fully opertional D-Star repeater in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am using 443.025 as the primary frequency. The repeater will on the gateway very shortly. The calsign is N5XP and will be operational by march 1st.I am waiting for an internet connection which seems to be more trouble than it should be. It should have been done a long time ago The next adventure I am going to work on is a full out balloon launch with multiple platforms and some experiements to boot. My experience is dated but extensive for launching them and building them, I will see what team members come on board and then utilize the resources available. Talk to you soon on the air. Noid Wilson www.nm5i.com is my website with more information and contact details.
HF rigs: Icom IC-756 Pro III, Icom IC-7000, Collins 75V2 (CCA) VHF-UHF rigs: Icom IC-2820 with D-Star/GPS, (2) IC-880H, IC-800, Kenwood TM-733 (2) VHF-UHF handhelds: Icom IC-91AD (D-Star), Yeasu VX-6, Yeasu FT-530. Then I have two APRS transmitters, one is the R-Trak and the second one is a Byonics MicroTrak. Both work very well when they are connected to a 5/8 wave two meter antenna. A neat little toy is the DVAP Dongle that I use sometimes at the house or on the road hooked up to the laptop. Another item I am toying with is the NOMIC from West Mountain Radio, the setup is used for Echolink connected to one of the TM-733rigs and one of the HT's while I tool around the garage or house. I use a Signalink for HF digital modes with the IC-756 Pro III. Antenna for the IC-756 Pro III is a OCF 80M thru 6M wire antenna that is situated in the backyard. Also a SGC-230 tuner is used for a vertical antenna. More information is forthcoming. A HF mobile station is being considered and in the process of the next vehicle, My main consideration is the Scorpion HF antenna with my IC-7000. I am collecting all the parts needed to make the installation. Last modified: 2012-02-21 03:06:12, 3792 bytes cached
