The Northwest Country Cousins

The Beginning

A meeting of the Western Country Cousins August 11,1973

Hathaway Park - Washougal, Washington

Minutes were transcribed by Harry Lewis, W7JWJ and Mary Lewis, W7QGP

-------------------------------------

The meeting was opened by Cousin Curly (William Milner), W7MDM with the following statement:

"Good morning once again. The Northwest Country Cousins wants to welcome you to the Washougal Park for a get-together. We hope you all have a very, very enjoyable time. We'll do our utmost to try and see that you do. Many of you, I know, are wondering about the little certificates laying on the table, here, saying,

The Northwest Country Cousins.

To start off with, so that it will be a legal meeting, I would like to present four certificates to the co-founders of the Northwest Country Cousins Net. Certificate #1 going to K7NZO, Raj Cauthers of Tahuya. There are no signatures on the certificate because there are no officers of the organization as yet. Certificate #2 will go to K7UFY, Chuck Cauthers. Certificate #3 will go to WA7BGG, Walter Sauerbier of Bremerton and certificate #4 to WA7BMW, Cousin Vern Sommers of Yakima.

This is not a pull-a-way, a break-a-way, nor is there any ill feelings toward the Western Country Cousins. This group, here, in discussing and talking the situation ion over, came to the conclusion that a small group, a sociable social group, getting together on another frequency and at a different time could promote harmony in their own group, and also, in conjunction with the Western Country Cousins, could help promote them and help them in promoting their projects.

We do have some proposals that we want to place with those who will become members of the organization (NWCC), for their approval, for their rectification, possibly of the working. The only way we can do that, naturally, is to put forth, the effort of obtaining some new members into the organization. Everyone in attendance at this picnic today will be offered - the opportunity to become a charter member of this group, The Northwest Country Cousins.
