Hi! I'm mostly active on HF bands when spare time permits and I do like QRP operating a lot. My main interest in ham radio is CW and my favorite band is 30 meters. I'm a bug and sideswpiper operator so I mainly use the Vibroplex Original Bug, Vibroplex Lightning Bug (J-36) or my homebrew hacksaw blade cootie on CW. Rig is an old workhorse Icom IC-751A. When operating QRP I use a homebrew Small Wonder Labs SW+ (20 m version) transceiver, ATS3B 6 band transceiver in an Altoids tin (a kit by KD1JV) or Heathkit HW-9. I also have some communication receivers for SWLing incl. JRC NRD-515, Drake R-4B and Icom IC-R71E. My antennas are mostly simple wires:a 66 ft vertical doublet which is tuned with the PCP Technologies Z-match true balanced line tuner (QRO) or Emtech ZM-2 (QRP), a 2 element vertical dipole array for 30 meters (with Comtek's hybrid coupler), J-poles for 10 and 15 meters and elevated T-loaded vertical with 2 radials for 80 meters. I also have two flag antennas for low band monitoring. Sometimes I do run QRO but never more than 600 watts.
My QSL is 100 % sure via the bureau or direct. Please enclose SAE and $2 or 1 IRC for direct QSL, thanks.
Please DO NOT send me eQSLs anymore! This is just a hobby and, unfortunately, I do not have enough time to handle both paper and electronic QSLs.
Club memeberships: SRAL, ARRL, QRP ARCI, GQRP, FISTSand CTC.
As a "side-hobby" I'm interested in electronics and especially I do like to build single-ended tube audio amplfiers. So far I have built two great sounding amplifiers, and. there's more to come, hi!
CU SN on the bands!
