I was born in 1958 in Pombia village of Crete island, Greece, placed close to Phaestos palace. I am a Biologist, and i work on the Microbiology Laboratory of the Univercity Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. My job there, is to research the resistances of the microbe-strains to the antibiotics. I am married with Maria and we have two children, Sofia and Andreas. My home QTH is near to KNOSSOS palace, the center of the famous Minoan Civilization. I am very proud to be a Greek ham radio operator, especially a Cretan one. I have my ham-radio licence since 1983, and my special inderest to the hobby is designing antennas. Also i am very much interesting for digital modes , packet radio and computers. My working conditions are as follows. Tranceivers. - IC-746PRO using Heil-PR781 microphone, also the Shure SM58, the SM-20 and SP-23 speaker - Icom IC-735 with HM36 mic and BHI-NEIM1031 noise canceller. - Yaesu FT-857 with MH-59 mic, for portable, v/u ssb, sats and mobile use - HEATHKIT HW-101 as a "gold" botanchor-vintage backup rig (very proud !!) - Yaesu FT-8800R for local repeaters, simplex and echo-link. - Yaesu FTM-10R for v/u-fm mobile use - Kenwood TH-F7 for portable and ssb-reception during walking. Also, PK-232MBX, ICF-7600G, several CW keyers, ATUs etc. Antennas - 4 elements 20-15-10m yagi ( fully homebrew, exact copy of KT34A) - G5RV doublet for all HF bands (homebrew) - OCF dipole for the low-bands. - Several magnetic loops (excellent low-profile antennas!!) - Diamond X300 for v/u local use - 8 el 144mhz yagi for repeater acces. - a lot of slim-Jim's, J's, ground planes, moxons, etc. You can find me also on the FACEBOOK. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001658981557#!/profile.php?id=100001658981557&v=info
