Mike is a super keen DX'er with all 340 countries Mixed (i.e. Top of Honor Roll), and with over 325 on each of SSB and CW. He also has well over 300 on most HF bands. He tends to concentrate on 30 meters and above. Mike was one of the first Canadians to achieve DXCC on 6 meters. With 15 to 20 acres out back, he enjoys an enviable antenna farm sporting five towers(all with high performance Yagi beams) spaced appropriately for his lower band HF dipoles, and he runs phased verticals on 30M. Almost everything seems to be fed with hardline, remote antenna switches etc. Less than 1/4 mile from the Atlantic Ocean, Mike's signal reflects the good grounding effects of his environment. He is the first to say "you don't need any more than 600 watts to work DX" but the local power company did have to string heavier wire to stop his street lights from blinking when he is on CW. Mike is as close to "the Old Timer" personified as you will meet. - Biography by VE1NN and VE1DX Last modified: 2012-04-30 03:00:54, 1018 bytes cached
