Hi!

First licensed in India in 1988 as VU2XMX. Got this Canadian callsign in 2002.

1990-2002: INDIA: Very active on all bands on CW, AM, SSB, PSK31, RTTY, SSTV.Lead state emergency communication events. Founding member cum ex-joint scretary for Gujarat Institute of Amateur Radio - my previous home ham radio institute in India.

2002-2008: CANADA: Sporadic activity on 2m/7cm/10m using my FT-3000M (dual band)and FT-8900R (quad band) mobile withMFJ-1724B and Comet UHV-4 mobile antennae

2009: Recession, got laid off from the job so lot of time to play! Time to get into HF business! Brought home an FT-757GXII for the shack and an FT-857D with ATAS for the van. Currently use a 20m delta loop and a 40m dipole. (by the time these all were set up, got a good work assignment and there was no much time to operate!).  Installed a homebrew colinear for 2m and seems to be working great! My qth is a top of one of the highest hills in the beautiful city of Calgary.

Main interest has been modifying commercial non-amateur equipments for amateur bands. In India I had easy access to marine radio equipments salvaged from ships coming to be broken. I have some good (modified for amateur bands) Skanti exciter, JRC PA and Skantigeneral coveragereceiver sitting (rather getting rusted) in my ancestral home but have no enough enthusaism to ship them over here.

My job is industrial automation & controls engineeringmainly for oil and gas.
