Special Event Callsign in celebration of the Centenary of Organised Amateur
Radio in Australia, and the foundation of the Wireless Institute of Australia.

It has also helped to focus renewed attention on the early history of amateur radio in this country through careful research in a way not previously known to have occurred.

The unique callsign is to be operated by WIA affiliated clubs on a roster basis May through to October 2010 at more than 50 locations around Australia. Contact with that station can also qualify for the WIA Centenary Award.

The VK100WIA callsign will first go on air on Friday 14th May with President Michael Owen VK3KI operating. A full roster is available at:

Each club operating under the callsign will record their contacts online, and from that log a VK100WIA QSL card will be generated for each QSO. These cards will be automatically sent via the QSL Bureau system and we encourage those who do contact this special station to send their QSL via the Bureau too.

 The highlight of the year will be the Centenary Convention weekend of activities in Canberra on 28-30th May 2010.
